KEITH C. FLOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

KEITH C. FLOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

I have been taking photographs since 1985 when I bought my first 35mm SLR camera, ahh...the days of film. Later that same year I became a certified scuba diver and took a borrowed underwater camera on my first dive in Monterey Bay. My desire to shoot underwater was fueled by the need to share with others what lies beneath the ocean's surface off the coast of California. Some of the projects I have worked on include collecting rock samples for the US Geological Survey in the waters around the Farallon Islands, Photographing a little known underwater oasis 3 miles off Pt. Sur in Central California and capturing the beauty and power of Great white sharks.

California Underwater by Joe Belanger

California Underwater by Joe Belanger

Joe was certified as a PADI Open Water Diver in 1978. He became an open water instructor in 1984. Joe served as a technical diver and field research technician for Marine Biological Consultants Applied Environmental Sciences from 1983 to 1986. He began photographing California's marine life in 1982. His work has appeared in many diving publications, including Skin Diver, Scuba Times, Discover Diving, Diver and California Diver to name a few. He is a seminar speaker for dive shows/clubs throughout Southern California and talks mostly on California photography and Catalina Island. His seminars about Catalina are truly unique, as Joe delves into historic Catalina in the 1800's and the history of diving at Catalina, from the 1950s to current day reality. His new book about Catalina, Catalina Island, All You Need To Know, is now available! From a travel viewpoint, Joe has traveled to India, Galapagos, Peru, Egypt, Malaysia, Canada, Bonne Terre Mine, France, Baja California, and all of California's Channel Islands to name a few. Some of his future travel visions include Antarctica, Africa, Thailand, Solomon Islands, Papau New Guinea, and Cocos.

Scuba Diving on the California Coast

Scuba Diving on the California Coast

Those who have never dove in California or other cold waters see the drab green color and presume that it s no different underwater. They re quite mistaken - if you bring the light, you ll find Monterey s reefs to have more color than many tropical destinations. I have been diving for a bit over 9 years now after doing my initial certification with a NAUI instructor at Silicon Graphics. Tom took this class with me. Since then, I ve logged a few hundred dives, mostly in local waters of Monterey and Carmel. The Aquashot 3E is a popular cheap UW camera outfit. I ve enjoyed great success with it - look at my best UW shots . Staying warm in California is no trivial task. You need a good, well fitting wetsuit, or to learn to use a drysuit , an entertaining experience for me this spring.

Bruce Hall Underwater Photography - California USA

Bruce Hall has been a scuba diver and underwater photographer since 1983. Macro, or close-up, photography enables Bruce, who is legally blind, to identify specific features of plant and animal life living along the southern California coastline as well as to study and to enjoy the undersea world after he has left it. His website reflects his dedication to sharing the sights of ocean life with others. Bruce’s photography and writing have been published in such sports magazines as California Diver, Pacific Diver, as well as in textbooks, including Physical Geology by James Monroe and Reed Wicander, and Biology, Concepts and Applications by Cecie Starr. Many of his photographs have appeared in several editions of the textbook Essentials of Oceanography, an Invitation to Marine Science by Dr. Tom S. Garrison.

DIVE PHOTOS NORTHWEST - Underwater Photography

Underwater photos Pacific Northwest photography and scuba diving log. Underwater photography and professional custom prints. I am an avid underwater, nature, and professional sports photographer in the Pacific Northwest. My love of photography has taken me to extremes, including weekly scuba diving in the 46 to 50 degree water of the Puget Sound and solo outback trips to the Alaskan Interior and the Yucatan Peninsula. My photographic pursuits have included serving as head photographer for Intercollegiate Athletics at U.C. Berkeley in the early 1990s before returning to my native Seattle and shooting for the University of Washington. In 2003, I converted to digital and am now shooting 16 megapixel images. My current photography interests include mosaic panoramics and waterhousing based surf photography.
