Features commissioned and stock photography for editorial pubication of the great outdoors specailising in water environments boats water sports etc..... I photograph aquatic locations from watersports in surf to white-water rivers, calm placid lakes, underground water in caves, the sea and urban landscapes of the River Thames. Working both above and below the water s surface I use diving and white water kayaking techniques to photograph places that other photographers often cannot reach. And as a qualified commercial scuba diver HSE part 4 , I can also photograph underwater using commercial air diving techniques.

My diving has taken me to a variety of UK underwater locations, including Falmouth, Plymouth, Salcombe, Scapa Flow, West Scotland. My overseas opportunities have included: Fuerteventura, Menorca, Norway, the Red Sea and Sodwana Bay, South Africa. I live quite close to Stoney Cove and so I dive there quite often, trying out new equipment and techniques. I am a member of the British Society of Underwater Photographers BSoUP and the East Midlands Underwater Photography group EMUP ; I am very grateful to members of those groups and my dive buddies for ideas, encouragement and enthusiasm. Space and time do not permit me to display as many images as I would like, so I offer here a small selection of recent work. I am really proud to have had my work recognised with competition awards and publication. External validation is always nice! Please let me know if you like these images I d like to know which ones you liked the best .

Franco Chiossi - Underwater and Travel Photography

A picture gallery featuring undersea life and world travel. It is quite unusual to enter a dentist s surgery and feel in a sort of photographic gallery, with fishes of all kinds overlooking you from the surgery walls, after a first welcome given to you by the pleasant sight of an aquarium placed in the entrance hall. That is the setting of Franco Chiossi s workplace, an indication that his medical profession cannot keep him entirely away from his special interest in underwater photography. On the other hand, the people of his hometown Ronciglione, a lovely medieval resort between Rome and Viterbo, seem to appreciate his wish to offer them relaxing images of peaceful underwater scenes while attending the surgery. The pictures shown on this site make up a selection of what Franco Chiossi has been photographing in recent months, including a section dedicated to the cities and places he has been visiting while searching for suitable underwater settings.
