Simon Crowther - Original Paintings Giclee Prints and Fine Art Photography

Fine art photography and original art specialising black and white photography colour giclee prints and modern watercolour paintings. I have been involved with photography for about 25 years, beginning with Lith printing and moving onto colour and black and white prints produced in a darkroom. Recently, I have begun making Gicl e inkjet prints as a kind of happy medium between traditional techniques and modern technology. I take my photographs on a variety of medium format and 35mm film cameras and then prepare the scanned negatives for printing on a computer. I find this is the best way to obtain optimum results, mainly resulting from the larger negative size of film cameras, as compared with the small CCDs found in digital cameras; and aided by the greater editing scope possible in Photoshop. In addition, images captured on film can be scanned to produce prints much larger than digital cameras can achieve, without any loss of quality. All my Gicl e prints are made using archival pigment inks which produce vibrant colours with better tonal range than dye based inks, as well as having greater permanence. Final images are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, an acid free 100 rag paper, widely considered to be the best archival photographic inkjet paper. Prints made in this way are both visually stunning and are expected to last about 100 years without fading, if properly kept see print care .

Gabhan Berry - Fine Art Photography

limited edition fine art landscape photography - This gallery represents the very best of my work to date and is being continually updated as I create more pieces. I try to create interesting and provocative photographic art which emits a unique style. With each piece, I aim to create mood and atmosphere and provoke a reaction from the viewer. - I want to create art that is interesting, provocative and unique. I want to create art that people will hang on their walls and look at each day ... and each day see something new. The photographic prints I create are made purely out of light and shadow. I use these two elements along with composition to create moods and provoke the imagination of the viewer. When out shooting, I take a good look at the landscape in front of me and think about all the possible scenes I can create. I consider different compositions, the use of light, the use of the sky and how the scene should be composed to create an interesting picture. Only once I have decided on all these things do I have a picture of the final scene in my mind and then I am ready to open the camera bag and start shooting photographs. And this means I move slow. I can go for weeks on end without taking a decent photograph, even though I ve been out and about, looking at subjects and creating potential scenes. All the elements need to come together at the same time and it takes patience, skill and a bit of luck for this to happen. Some of my photographs have taken me months to create, from the first time I created the scene in my head to when I capture it in my camera. In all my photographs, I try to make the viewer feel that they are standing there, where the camera stood, absorbing the scene in front of them. I want them to feel that they have paused for a minute and are taking a look around, inspecting all the details and feeling all the moods and atmosphere of the scene. I want to provoke a reaction in the viewer with each photograph. Because this is my style and I...

David Wilson Photography. Fine Art Limited Edition Land and Seascape Photographs

David Wilson Photography. Fine Art Limited Edition Land and Seascape Photographs

Black and white landscape photography of Pembrokeshire. My love of landscape photography began when I bought my first camera at the age of seventeen. I spent many carefree days riding around Pembrokeshire on my motorbike with my 35mm Canon and an ordnance survey map, learning to take landscape photographs while exploring the coast and countryside. Due to my habit of colliding with objects the motorbike is now history, but my passion for photography, particularly black and white landscape, is stronger than ever. Situated on the very western tip of Wales and surrounded on three sides by the sea, Pembrokeshire is an idyllic location to indulge in landscape photography. In my work I seek to capture the county s many different faces; the windswept coast of mid-winter, a sunny spring dawn on the Cleddau Estuary, a derelict cottage, or the gentle contours of the Preseli mountains. It really is a county of contrasts. A sun-kissed summer shore is another place entirely in the depths of January when howling winds whip across the sand and waves crash over the pebbles. In essence I photograph the Pembrokeshire I see throughout the year. Living here I witness both its beauty and bleakness. I was born and brought up in Haverfordwest and now live just a few miles downstream in the riverside village of Llangwm with my wife Anna and our little son Charlie. With the water just a stone s throw from our back garden, it provides endless inspiration. On a clear morning I often head along the foreshore and round the corner to Port Lion for sunrise. It s a wonderfully solitary experience, knowing it s just me, the crisp early morning air and occasionally the village s resident gaggle of geese who have made Llangwm their home. I m predominantly, though not exclusively, a fine art black and white landscape photographer. I feel that Pembrokeshire lends itself perfectly to tonal interpretation. Black and white can convey both drama and tranquility. A monochrome print lures you into the image...

My passion for photography began over 20 years ago when I purchased my first SLR camera the Minota 7000 . I soon realised that there was more to photography than the camera. The work of Ansel Adams inspired me and this was the direction I wanted to go. Black and white photography soon became an obsession and a darkroom was constructed where I would spend many hours practicing the art. I studied and learnt the zone system which I still apply to this day. Photography has made me view the world in a different way and beauty can be found in almost any subject. Capturing this beauty is not always easy and many visits to a location are sometimes needed to capture the magic moment. I have several cameras from 35mm to a 5x4 view camera. The Mamiya RB67 is my favourite camera which is now used for most of my work. I like the slow methodical approach of medium format photography and being alone in the landscape with my camera is magical. Many hours have been spent in the darkroom over the years and this experience is now helping me create my images in Photoshop. The images are scanned to Photoshop then burned and dodged with maybe a touch of contrast control. Prints are produced with an Epson R2400 printer using the latest K3 ultrachrome inks on to Innova art s museum quality paper which has the feel and look of a darkoom fibre print.
