Really Japan Asia Japan photo blog through the eyes of an Italian designer

Really Japan Asia & Japan photo blog through the eyes of an Italian designer

My name is Ruben, I m Italian but I ve been living in Tokyo for almost two years now. I ve always loved photography, however it was only when I bought my first SLR, a Nikon D80, and discovering how to take shots and use correctly the camera, that I really began to have fun taking photos. I usually shoot at the end of a working day, coming back home, so I m constantly struggling for fast lenses, even if I can t invest so much money in that. I prefer to shoot decaying urban landscapes, air conditioners, pipes and small street.. that s partly because I don t feel confortable taking photos to people on the street but I m trying to improve and partly because I LIKE this kind of subjects. And Japan is an ideal place for that even if right now in China or Hong Kong that aspect is much more evident . Tokyo is an interesting place, the mix between old and new is very immediate, and generally there s a large gap on what is aesthetically acceptable here in asia and in the western world. Usually in Italy there are strict rules about how to put up buildings, the color they should be in relation to the neighborhood and so on. But here in Tokyo is like functionality comes first, so huge pipes can be just outside a building, or air conditioners can be attached everywhere.. That s what I really feel fascinating here, and that s what I like to shoot. My equipment is, a Nikon D80 with 3 lenses: a kit-lens 18-70 Nikon, a fast 1.4 50mm primelens Nikon and a Sigma 10-20 it s so fun to use! . I m planning to buy something more zoomy, maybe a 70-200.. as filters I just use, sometimes, a polarizer. I use a MacBook the black one and Lightroom, sometimes photoshop to finish the photo before uploading
