Workshop mit Jan Grarup
Jan Grarup – „Scratching the surface - going under the skin“
Photojournalism is not about the amount of cameras you carry, neither is it about appearance – Photojournalism is about Empathy and have something on your mind which has to be told.
During the workshop I will explain how to reduce the “noise” in your head – narrow your story down and make you ready to go out with an energy and a clear mind to cover the stories you want.
How do you research your story, get in contact with the right people and get close to human beings you have never seen before. Trust is a key issue, and at the end of the day it is all related.
Dieser Workshop findet NUR in englischer Sprache statt.

Wandering Gypsy Soul Studio & Gallery Brandy Kayzakian-Rowe - Portland, Oregon USA
Brandy Kayzakian-Rowe - I do studio shoots but do not do purely posed work. The studio is perfect when a controlled effect is desired such as dramatic lighting or the artist is not currently performing out. Even in a studio setting I like to shoot while the musician is working so be prepared to bring your instruments, tools and equipment! Below are four studio sessions from the past few months with Fiona Boyes, Frank Tribble, Amy Keys and the Andre St. James Trio. I specialize doing on-location work, performances in clubs and more personal work documenting rehearsals and recording sessions. The biggest consideration for on-location work is lighting, the better the light, the better the photos.

801 Creative Photography - Julian Gomez, Salt Lake City, UTAH
My primary focus is people...be it a wedding, a portrait, or a fast action sports match (racquetball if you don't know me).I travel quite a bit, some for work, some for fun, ALL FOR CAPTURING A MOMENT, A STORY, A MEMORY. At the end of the day, all we have are memories. I've traveled asfar as Bern, Switzerland and as close as down the street to document peoples' special days. I've enjoyed every minute of my work and every person I've had the privelege todocument. I show up early, bring an assistant, and stay until we're done. No one should have to worry about whether thephotographer is going to run up an hourly bill if a recpetion goes late...not on their wedding day. I carry back-ups of all my equipment. Again, you have enough to worry aboutwithout adding possible equipment failure to the mix. I'm always in contact, before, during, and after our time together. My hope is that we feel comfortable working witheach other and maybe even become friends in the end. I am not rigid and love to experiment if the opportunity presents itself during the course of our adventures. I shoot formyself as much as I shoot for my clients. I will not deliver images, albums, or portfolios to you that I wouldn't want to display myself. Many times, a second photographer willalso be available for an additional viewpoint and of course, additional images.

Fine Art Rock and Roll Photography by Richard E. Aaron
Richard E. Aaron has captured the top musicians with his fine art rock and roll photographs exhibited and sold throughout the world. Among the handful of individuals who can claim to have had a real insider's look at the glories and excesses of the Classic Rock era is Richard E. Aaron. One of the best known rock photographers in the world, Richard E. Aaron was on-stage and backstage documenting the decade as it unfolded around some of the most important events in music history. Richard E. Aaron's career as a rock 'n' roll photographer took him around the world -- several times, in fact. But there were a couple of places that remained the same no matter what town he happened to be in that night -- The Pit and Backstage. As a working professional photographer, these spaces were home to Richard the majority of evenings on any given week. The Pit refers not to the mosh pit, a Nineties innovation to the rock venue, but rather the photographers pit directly in front of the stage where Richard and his colleagues would gather to capture the elusive perfect shot. Often within reaching distance of the performers, these were the “best seats” in the house, although technically there were no seats in the pit.

Bernard Mendoza Photography - Professional Photographer - Colorado
Bernard Mendoza has been a professional photographer since the 1960s. His works focus on using single silent frames as the words of a story. I started my career as a commercial photographer in London during the late '60s. I was fortunate enough to attract such clients as Chanel Perfume, Clairol, Coty and Goya Perfume to my studios in London and Amsterdam and in 1980, with Texas Instruments and Shell Oil being two of my major American accounts, I opened a studio in Houston, Texas. In 1985, with an offer from one of Hollywood's leading commercial production companies, Vern Gillum & Friends, I made my way to California to direct television commercials. In the past 8 years I have been working primarily as a documentary and reportage photographer. I see myself as a story teller using single silent frames as my language. Sometimes these frames are joined together to tell an overall story, like the images from my essay 'Portrait Of A City Hospital', the story of public health care in America. The completed essay comprises sixty photographs and is now part of the permanent collection of the City of Denver and their Art in Public Places Program.

Andrew Davis Photography, Maine and New Hampshire
Andrew Davis has been honored to photograph subjects as diverse as island weddings, state governers, politicians, musicians, family pets, and exquisite art and antiques. An almost graduate expecting to graduate in May of 08 of the University of Southern Maine, he was raised in a small town called Harmony, Maine by salt of the earth parents who built their own home, grew their own food, and taught him the meaning of hard work. Three years at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, a magnet school in far Northern Maine, provided a solid foundation in technology, math and science that would serve him well in his creative pursuits. It was his senior year in high school that he picked up his first digital camera, started experimenting in the black and white darkroom, and his interest in photography took off from there.
