The landscape and nature photography of Alex Mody. Through trips to Shenandoah National Park with my Grandfather, and a few family vacations, I began to develop a very strong interest in the natural world. This, combined with the fact that I have always loved to have a camera in my hand, is what has really inspired me to become interested in nature photography. I currently live in Vienna, Virginia, and I try my best to take advantage of every photographic opportunity that comes my way. Over the last year and a half I ve traveled near and far, and have photographed nature-related subjects all across the country. Simply put, there is nothing I enjoy more than photographing the natural world. I hope that through my photographs and this website, I can share my perspectives with others.

Lara Ellis - Earth Pulse Nature Photography - Virginia

2006 Shenandoah Audubon Photo award winner Lara Ellis makes her home in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband where she has been photographing nature scenes for the past 15 years. Many of her photos are also shot on the Virginia shore on or near Assateague Island where they often spend time in the summer. Many of her photos capture the smallest details in nature that are often overlooked by most of us as we go about our busy days. She hopes her work inspires others to slow down take a few deep breaths and really see the beauty that is all around us every day. She is always amazed at how the same area from day to day can look so completely different depending on the weather, time of year and the lighting. One day the valley looks calm and serene whereas another day the clouds create an ominous approaching drama as they roll over the mountains. Lara was born in Laguna Beach California in 1969 to parents who also have a deep appreciation of nature and the environment. She fondly remembers childhood camping trips up and down the Oregon and California coast with her family. She remembers the most enjoyable thing to her on these trips was learning to identify the different plants, birds, butterflies and animals in the areas where they camped. She is deeply concerned about the state of our planet, particularly global warming and deforestation and hopes that her photos underscore the importance of protecting and saving the earth that is ours...

Chincoteague Nature Photography

Chincoteague Nature Photography displays photographs taken near Chincoteague Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The Chincoteague area offers numerous opportunities for nature photographs, from Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to the waters of Chincoteague Bay. The Refuge, Bay, and neighboring wetlands, are home to many varieties of birds, including herons, egrets, ibises, ducks, swans, geese, and shore and waterbirds. The bird populations vary over the course of the year, with most of the egrets and herons resident from early spring to early fall, while ducks and snow geese begin to arrive in mid-fall and stay throughout the winter.
