Most of our photographs are characterized by long exposures, soft images, and eye popping colors. Using dynamic compositions, the photographs are mood evoking, inspirational and create a sense of joy and wonderment. Our images portray the globe: from Alaska to Appalachia, from Asia to Africa and the earth s diverse people. We use small apertures to achieve tremendous depth of field and the long exposures that result from the combination of slow film speeds and low light levels often mark the passage of wind and water through the scene. We are often asked what makes a great photograph. A great photograph is one that makes you stop and take the time to think about the atmosphere it creates or the feelings it inspires in you. If one of our images makes you pause and think about this for more than 10 seconds, then, in our opinion, that is truly a great photograph. Dean Sauskojus Photography is a Fine Art Nature Photography Landscape and Flower Photography web site. Hello my name is Dean Sauskojus. I live in Bozeman Montana with my wife Karen and my son Benjamin. I ve lived in the states of Kansas, Colorado and Oregon and spent most of my life in Montana. A small community and the wildness of Montana and the surrounding area is why I live here.I love to backpack into unknown mountain cirques, places where very few people have ever been. Anytime I m in these places I feel a real sense of awe and excitement, which I try to deliver on film. My hope is that through my photographs people can see God s power and his majesty. It s because of Him that I m able to do what I do. I started taking photographs of my son with a 35mm camera 16 years ago. After moving back to Montana I bought a 4x5 and haven t put it down since. I love the image quality and detail of the larger format camera. All of the images on this site are taken with a 4x5 camera. My equipment includes: Wista DX 4x5 Field Camera; a Bogen 3021 tripod; 135mm Nikkor; 210 Schneider Symar; 400mm Fuji; 75mm and 90mm Rodenstock Grandagon lenes. I also use a Pentax spotmeter and my favorite film is Fuji Velvia. Inquiries for stock and assignment photography are welcome.
