Staffan Widstrand Photography - Cool pictures, hot subjects, wild stories

A site for the image using professional, and the photography enthousiast alike. With my work I hope to promote conservation, dignity and respect. Trying to convey my own feeling of awe over the wonders and the beauty of the natural world, and of the striking expressions of different cultures. I am a picture-oholic, all the time checking out images and form in fashion-, press-, nature-, photo- and fancy magazines, in advertisement, on the Web, or in cartoons for example. As well as easily and happily falling head over heels into any good text I come across. I am passionate about photography, and I especially like a mix of photojournalistic and artistic approach. I am also the lucky winner of a number of prizes in the BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Since 1998 very active in a five-year media project together with friends and colleagues Magnus Elander and Johan Lewenhaupt , called The Scandinavian Big Five , in which we try to cover all aspects of the five large Scaninavian carnivores the wolf, the bear, the lynx, the wolverine and man. Man being the by far most common, most distributed, most dangerous and most ruthless of them I was also during 11 years a board member of the Swedish Ecotourism Society, because I believe ecotourism really is an extremely useful tool for both conservation and development. I am taking active part in the development of the first national ecotourism quality label on the Northern Hemisphere: Nature s Best.

Over the years Strand has had the entire planet as his workplace. Photographing everything from the vast expances of the Arctic, to steaming rainforests and dry deserts. His work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions and published in many international photography magazines. He has also lectured on his photography internationaly, He has received several awards for his photography. The latest is Hasselblad Masters Award 2008. He has published 3 books with landscape photographs and is now about to finish his latest book Arctic Impressions, a story on a vanishing world . Klum Photography - fantastic photos of animals and nature by the world known photographer Mattias Klum. Monika and Mattias Klum and their team entered the steamy rain forests of Borneo. It was 1995. The world s foremost illustrated magazine, National Geographic, wanted their personal impressions of one of the richest natural environments in the world. After fourteen months of living in tents and blinds, they came back with thousands of photographs and miles of motion film sequences. One of the stills, the illusive silvered leaf monkey, was chosen for the cover of National Geographic. Forty-four million readers met the monkey s gaze, and met, face to face, a being from the depths of the rain forest. That is how Monika and Mattias work with their photographs, films and stories. They want to affect us. In the long term, to change us. If people have been emotionally moved by something, they want to know more about it; there is something to keep and cherish. Environmental thinking is not only about ideas, but also about feelings and action.

Carpe Naturum Photography

Carpe Naturum hade sin första träff det sista ret p föreg ende rtusendet. Sammankallande var tv entusiaster som bada hade en ide om en förening för endast naturfoto i Malmö-omradet p amatör semiprofessionell basis. Medlemmar har kommit och gatt, idag är vi sex intresserade med spridda ideer om naturfoto. En del av oss har sa mycket utrustning att de omöjligen kan bära ens hälften själv, andra nöjer sig med ett kamerahus och ett par objektiv. Gemensamt är dock att vi alla använder smabild och digitala system fran nagon av de tv stora tillverkarna. Motiven är skiftande med mycket narnatur fran Skane, men ocksa exotiskt vilt fran andra sidan vürlden. Pa vara m natliga träffar som halles hemma hos medlemmarna själva enligt ett ambulerande schema diskuteras det bilder och ater bilder. En staende punkt pa varje möte är Tre bilder där varje medlem deltager med tre bilder. Dessa diskuteras i grupp med avseende pa alla möjliga infallsvinklar, garanterat intressanta diskussioner! En viktig uppgift för föreningen är att försöka stötta varandra med rad om försäljning av bilder och kontakter i samband med dessa. Gemensamma fotoutflykter i näromradet anordnas ocksa.
