Kurt Budliger s passion for outdoor photography grew from a life- long love and appreciation for the natural world, as well as respect and admiration for great photographers such as Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter and John Shaw. After graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Interpretation, Kurt began teaching young people about natural history and the importance of resource conservation. His experiences as an environmental educator led him to pursue a Master of Science in Teaching at the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. Kurt spent six years teaching middle school science in central Vermont before deciding to pursue his career in photography full-time. As a photographer, Kurt is primarily self-taught. However, he has participated in many workshops, most recently as an instructor and co-founder of Green Mountain Photographic Workshops. Kurt s formal photographic training includes black and white studies at Johnson State College, as well as advanced nature photography with David Middleton at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana. Kurt currently teaches digital photography at the Montpelier campus of the Community College of Vermont. Kurt s landscape and nature portfolio includes numerous images of the northeast, as well as many western states like Colorado, Montana, Utah, Washington, and Alaska.
