Fred Stevens - Photographer - Portales, NM
Presenting and Offering the Fine Art Photography of Frederick M. Stevens. The physical essence of a photograph is that instant when light, traveling through a lens, strikes the film or sensor in the camera. Everything which takes place before that instant is preparation; everything after, presentation. A photographer is a person who gets to choose when, where and therefore which such instants occur. Even among the most prolific photographers, these instants, when put end to end, amount to only a few minutes of actual exposure per year. Within that context, I’m just a guy who is trying to get in an hour or so of good photography before I die.I do have personal heroes in photography, Ansel Adams, William Henry Jackson, Elliott Porter, Laura Gilpin, Ernst Haas, David Meunch and Alfred Eisenstadt, to name just a few. I draw much of my artistic inspiration from various aspects of their work and personal inspiration from their life stories.

Roger Blake Photography - Southwestern Fine Art Photography - Albuquerque New Mexico
Roger Blake a fine art photographer captures the mood spirit and essence of his subjects. I have had a life-long passion for art. I took whatever art courses I could find in high school and at Middlebury College in Vermont. I later studied Painting and Design at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. I have sold paintings in my own studio galleries in California and New Mexico. Past lives include military experience as a Naval Radar Intercept Officer flying F-4B Phantom jets in Vietnam and Flight Test Officer flying A-6 Intruders at Pt. Mugu, California. My longest career after the military was in commercial real estate as a broker and finally real estate acquisition supervisor for the US Government. There were occasional breaks from real estate to try surviving as a jeep tour and taxi cab driver, waiter, bartender, inn keeper, inventor, gallery owner, and as always an artist. Another of my strong urges has been to see every corner of this beautiful land. In 1997, I climbed in a big rig and became an over-the-road truck driver. What better way to see the country and get paid for it than be a truck driver. I lived mostly in trucks between 1997 and 2005, waking up every day in a different place, crisscrossing the country what must be hundreds of times and loving it. There is a rhythm and pace to it that suited me. Around every turn there was a new view and of course, the daily sunrises and sunsets that were not to be missed. My only problem was that after a life filled...

Craig Varjabedian New Mexico Photographer
Craig Varjabedian is a fine-art photographer of the lands and peoples of the American Southwest. He was born in Canada and began photographing at the age of thirteen. He has subsequently sustained an artistic career spanning over thirty years, which began in earnest in 1971 and involved studies with Phil Davis at the University of Michigan and Paul Caponigro in Santa Fe. Varjabedian s first one-man show was at the Albuquerque Museum in 1994. Since that time he has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States. Grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and the McCune Charitable Foundation have been awarded to Varjabedian over the course of his photographic career in recognition of his powerful imagery. His pursuit of an intensely personal vision has culminated in images of moments made extraordinary by light and life. He approaches his subjects receptively, preferring to utilize an intuitive approach rather than arranging forms and recording surface details. In the final analysis, Varjabedian s photographs allow viewers to share in the authentic experience of an artistic process which celebrates luminous and heartfelt experience. Upcoming books of his photographs include Four & Twenty Photographs: Stories from Behind the Lens and a book on Ghost Ranch, both with Santa Fe author Robin Jones and soon to be available from the University of New Mexico Press. The late Beaumont Newhall, preeminent photographic...
