Vietnam pictures and fine art photography of the country nature culture people ... While a lot of sites out there are still about the Vietnam war and Vietnam yesterday, the gallery intention is to present Vietnam today, after centuries of foreign domination and years of war, as a country where everyone living in peace and working to build a bright and better future. The site is an online photo gallery to introduce the country beautiful pictures to the world outside. The photo gallery serves anyone who cares about or is interested in Vietnam, and hopefully, it will help people around the world understand and come to know Vietnam better and thus bring our world a bit closer. Artistic photography is our chosen media for this on-going presentation, as we believe in art and its healing power. In the hectic world today where we tend to be so busy and tense with making money and surviving competition, art can bring calm and peaceful moments to our mind and soul to reflect on other ideas that make life more meaningful and worth living. An artistic photograph can truly help us find relaxing moments and return to a more balanced and fruitful life to benefit ourselves, our families, and all living around us. As we travel around to take pictures, the gallery photographs are more of a travel or journalist, sometimes documentary type. And we usually focus on nature, cultures, local colours and people, the beautiful moments that we feel honoured to see and experience in every corner of the country and people s simple daily life. We re deeply touched by people s hardship and living conditions, especially those of children in remote areas, and we hope that people can see through the gallery rooms for improvements and opportunities for contribution to make their life one day better. The gallery is an on-going project and so new select photos will be added over times. The site is currently in English as the most common language to serve the Internet community. Much as we have tried, English is not our mother tongue and there are quite a few Vietnamese cultures, objects, and concepts that we do not know or that do not have their equivalents yet in English. As a result, no English words or semantic mistakes for some pictures are unavoidable and here comes our apology where that happens. In February 2001, I spent four weeks traveling through Vietnam, exploring the Old Quarter of Hanoi, hiking through hill tribe villages near Sapa, and drifting down ancient waterways in Hoa Lu. The highlight of my trip to Vietnam was a week in Hoi An, a small, sleepy village about halfway down the coast between Hanoi and Saigon.
