Streets of Amsterdam

I like to stress the limits of my camera. In low light conditions I crank up the ISO value of the image sensor to the highest level. The diaphragm opening is kept as small as possible in combination with a shutter speed that allows me to shoot without a tripod. The initial result is an almost black image. Next the image is processed in Photoshop. By raising the output levels the image is revealed, including the noise generated by the image sensor chip. Of course this only makes sense if the noise in the image has a function like adding to the atmosphere of the image.

SilentShutter

SilentShutter was started at the end of 2003. During the relaxed days just before Christmas, I worked on the website. This was after some experiments I did earlier on creating a photoblog. The main question people ask me is: "Why do you want to make a photoblog?" My answer is the same reason a mountainclimber gives for climbing a mountain: "Because I think it can be done." Photography is - with some ups and downs - a rather major hobby for me during the years. I deceided that creating a photoblog was a good way to pick up this hobby.
