State College Photo Club, Pennsylvania USA

We are a group of enthusiastic photographers of all ages and skills using a variety of cameras: 35 mm SLRs, Digital, Large Format, as well as a few Point and Shoot. Our members vary from the novice to those who are quite experienced and many who are in between. Even the best photographers were beginners once! The club works as follows - we meet the third Monday of every month for a digital and slide competition, for which we bring in an outside professional to critique and judge our photos. We also have a yearly photo essay contest in April, and an end-of-season judging in May where the winners throughout the year are critiqued for the yearly best photo honors. We're also starting to organize events like photo walks and Photoshop workshops. We present our winning pictures from our contests on this site. Feel free to browse around and see the variety of work we do.So, why should you join? Well, we find that doing is a good way of improving. The monthly contests let us exercise our creative muscles. Participating in the contests forces you to get out there and take some pictures. There's also the camaraderie, and if you've got questions there's usually someone in the club that can answer them.
