Fresh Meadows Camera Club - Fresh Meadows, New York

Fresh Meadows Camera Club - Fresh Meadows, New York

We are the oldest club in Queens, celebrating our 60th Anniversary in 2007. We are also the only club that maintains a full-time facility, including color and black-and-white darkrooms, and full facilities for mounting and matting images. All equipment and facilities are available to members 24/7. Our critiques and competitions are held in a gallery-style setting in our meeting room, in an atmosphere that encourages sharing of ideas and techniques in a non-competitive environment. Our schedule includes, among many other activities, regularly scheduled classes in Photoshop and all aspects of digital photography, as well as darkroom instruction. Photoshop is taught with a digital projector on a large screen by various experienced teachers and photographers in the club, as well as outside guest lecturers. Our goal is to teach, learn, and share photographic ideas and techniques, whether we are beginners, advanced amateurs, or professionals.

Schoharie County Photo Club, Cobleskill, NY (between Albany and Cooperstown) New York

Capturing Schoharie County's Natural Beauty One Photograph At A Time --- The Schoharie Photo club was started in 1999 by Jack McNerney and Cole Vickery with assistance from the Schoharie Council of Arts. Our goal was to provide a common ground for the photographers (both amateur and professional) in the region to discuss their art, learn techniques from each other, display their images, and discuss their body of work. We started meeting twice a month on the second and forth Tursdays at the Art Council gallery at 7:00pm and have continued this schedule to this day. Currently we have about 45 members who come to meetings when they can. Our average has been about 10 to 15 members a meeting and these meetings last about an hour and a half.. Past activities have included visits to photo labs and portrait studios as well as informal gatherings of members to photograph scenic and interesting locations in the region. We also display our work at the Cobleskill Fair each August and have had group showings in the Art Gallery. We have also held photo contests and currently are photographing assignments for our meetings where we compare and discuss our images. We also have either guest speakers or knowledgeable members discuss and demonstrate various topics during our monthly meetings. These have included depth of field, portrait setups, and close up photography.
