Rangiora Photographic Society Welcome to the Rangiora Photographic Society -- Canterbury, New Zealand

Rangiora Photographic Society Welcome to the Rangiora Photographic Society -- Canterbury, New Zealand

The Rangiora Photographic Society Inc was formed 62 years ago by a small group of enthusiastic people with a common interest in photography and a desire to share their interest and knowledge at that time. Over the years this common interest has continued with the Society remaining very active in its pursuit of photographic enjoyment and excellence. The Society promotes the fuller and wider enjoyment of photography and encourages social interaction and co-operation amongst its members. All members are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences in photography with fellow members and participate in the Society s activities. These activities include organized field trips, workshops, internal and external photographic competitions and exhibitions. Teaching photography is an important activity the Society is committed to and includes digital as well as film photography. Everyone with an interest in photography is very welcome to attend the Society meetings, there is no age limit. Also, welcome to our new web site, which reflects the forward thinking and inclusive nature of our Society. I would like to thank the team who developed our new web site, especially Richard Guru Ettema who developed the structure and carried out the majority of the programming work. Without his many midnight hours, we would not be here now.

Nature Photography Society of New Zealand

Nature Photography Society of New Zealand

We are a society of enthusiasts who explore and enjoy nature photography through guest lectures, field trips, exhibitions, members showcases and social nights. We enjoy getting out with our cameras in hand on weekend and day field trips to explore and appreciate many parts of the country and hone our photography skills. We also do the occasional field trip to more exotic locations, such as Africa and the wilds of Stewart Island. Our society is slightly different to others in that we do not run competitions within our society. However, we do occasionally hold exhibitions of members work and plan to mount similar ones on a regular basis as a means of showcasing our members talent. Please have a look around our website. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We have a meeting on the third Monday of each month. Meetings are held at Hancock Hall in Hillmorton, Christchurch 20 Tankerville Rd, previously Hoon Hay Working Men s Club and start at 7:30pm

At WPS our aim is to encourage the study and practice of photography. Our meetings are run on a fairly informal basis and you can be sure to learn something new at every meeting - whether you have been interested in photography for years or just starting out. The society has been around for quite some time so there are well established links within the New Zealand photography world. At our meetings you get the chance to listen to and meet some of New Zealand s established and up and coming photographers. You also have the opportunity to display your own work and to receive feedback and encouragement from other members. Overall we want our members to come along to the meetings to learn new techniques, get inspired with new ideas and above all have an enjoyable evening.
