Etherton Gallery, Tucson Arizona

Etherton Gallery, Tucson Arizona

Known internationally for exhibiting fine art photography ranging from the masters of the medium to emerging photographers, along with the work of local and regional artists in varied media, we are truly fortunate to present one of the most exciting seasons in our 27 year history. I continue to believe that what sets us apart is our desire to provoke and inspire; I think this season we accomplish both in remarkable ways. Mixing contemporary imagery with vintage classical and digital technologies, the history of photography is always evident in the gallery s holdings. Located in Tucson s historic Downtown in the landmark Oddfellows Hall, built in 1914, the gallery s spacious environs house such modernist photography notables as Danny Lyon, Paul Caponigro, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Ansel Adams, Mark Klett, Kate Breakey, Graciela Iturbide, Joel-Peter Witkin, and many other photographers of national and international note. Etherton Gallery also exhibits artists from Tucson and the surrounding region. Ranging from the luminous abstractions of Nancy Tokar Miller to Bailey Doogan s experiential and time laden investigations of the female body, the gallery represents and exhibits many of the areas best-known artists, including James G. Davis, Gail Marcus-Orlen, Jim Waid, Luis Jimenez and Daniel Martin Diaz among others. Photographers: Ansel Adams, Albert Arthur Allen, Dick Arentz, Wayne Martin Belger, William Bell, Michael Berman, Deborah Bloomfield, Karl Blossfeldt, Manuel...

Center for Creative Photography - The University of Arizona Libraries - The University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona

Center for Creative Photography - The University of Arizona Libraries - The University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona

The Center for Creative Photography is an archive and research center located on the University of Arizona campus. We retain the archives of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Garry Winogrand, Harry Callahan, and other great 20th century photographers over fifty archives in all. The Center for Creative Photography was established in May 1975 with the purchase of five photographers archives, an operating budget of 75,000, and a staff of three. The inaugural exhibition, From the Center for Creative Photography, featured these founding archives Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, and Frederick Sommer. While these and future archives focused on twentieth-century American photography, the print collection was quickly developed to represent the larger history of photography as well as international practice. Collection development continues at a rate of one to three new archives per year, providing the centerpiece holdings to a now large and diverse representation of the art of photography.

Mesa Arts Center - Mesa, Arizona

Mesa Arts Center - Mesa, Arizona

The new Mesa Arts Center is a 212,755-square-foot performing arts, visual arts, and arts education facility, the largest and most comprehensive arts center in the state of Arizona. Located in the heart of downtown at Center and Main Streets, Mesa Arts Center reflects the city s rich tradition of family, community and pride. An inviting oasis by day and a luminous beacon by night, this central gathering place is designed to showcase a world of arts and culture everything from art exhibitions to world-class performances to state-of-the-art studios for art education. The design of Mesa Arts Center was inspired by the unique character of the Sonoran Desert a rich desert, mountain and canyon environment. The campus includes a complex of four theaters, Mesa Contemporary Arts galleries and exhibition space, two Art Studios buildings with visual and performing arts studios and classrooms, informal performance areas, administrative support space, and a 700-foot Shadow Walk that creates an inviting, shaded outdoor oasis plaza. The mission of Mesa Arts Center is to inspire people through impacting and engaging arts experiences that are diverse, accessible, and relevant; and that enhance the quality of life and vitality of the greater region. We honor our work place unity of purpose and our interconnectedness, while valuing the significance of individual talents. The vision of Mesa Arts Center is to become the premier arts center in the West.
