Photosynth - Microsoft macht die eigenen Fotos begehbar
Microsoft hat Photosynth für die Allgemeinheit freigegeben. Die Anwendung erzeugt aus einzelnen Standbildern dreidimensionale und begehbare Abbildungen, indem das Programm versucht, die Aufnahmestandpunkte nachzuberechnen und die Bilder räumlich dazu passend anzuordnen. Der Webservice arbeitet mit dem Internet Exporer 7 und Firefox 3. (Microsoft, Grafik-Software)

Andrea Diefenbachs Fotografien sind nicht zu trennen von der gesellschaftlichen Wirklichkeit in der Ukraine, von der sie mit großer Eindringlichkeit und Traurigkeit erzählen. Odessa, einst als Perle am Schwarzen Meer bekannte Hafenstadt, ist der Ausgangspunkt der Verbreitung von Aids in den Staaten der Sowjetunion. Mit schätzungsweise 160000 Infizierten ist die Millionenstadt heute selbst am stärksten von der Ausbreitung der Immunschwächekrankheit betroffen. Diefenbach erzählt entlang von einzelnen Schicksalen vom Leben mit der Diagnose, vor allem aber vom Sterben an einer Krankheit, welche die Regierung gerade erst als Problem anzuerkennen beginnt.
Die Bilder zu „Aids in Odessa“, mit denen die Fotografin 2006 ihr Diplom an der Fachhochschule in Bielefeld gemacht hat, sind über einen Zeitraum von drei Monaten, in dem sie die Menschen begleitet und porträtiert hat, in Odessa entstanden. Das Ergebnis ihrer Sozialdokumentation sind intensive Porträts mit einem hohen Maß an Nähe und Intimität, jenseits des voyeuristischen Blicks auf das Leiden anderer. Diefenbach beleuchtet in ihren Fotografien wie auch in den Bild begleitenden Texten die Ursachen und die individuellen Biografien, in denen immer wieder von Drogen, Armut, Prostitution und einfach Unglück die Rede ist.
In ihren Fotografien spiegeln sich diese Erfahrungen in einer dichten Atmosphäre von Trostlosigkeit und Schmerz wieder. Doch gleichzeitig wohnt Diefenbachs Fotografien auch eine poetische und malerische Kraft inne, so dass ihnen neben ihrem hohen journalistischen Niveau ein allgemeingültiger Charakter anhaftet. „Wäre das meine Arbeit, würde ich mich freuen“, schreibt Boris Mikhailov im Vorwort zum gerade bei Hatje Cantz erschienen Buch „Aids in Odessa“. „Um so zu fotografieren, muss man diesen Schmerz mitfühlen – und das spürt man in jedem einzelnen Bild.“
Andrea Diefenbach, geboren 1974, lebt in Wiesbaden; nach der Ausbildung zur Fotografin und Arbeit als freiberuflicher Fotografin und Fotoassistentin, studiert sie von 2000 - 06 Fotografie an der Fachhochschule Bielefeld, seit 2003 arbeitet sie als freiberufliche Fotografin u.a. für

SDHC-Kompatibilitätsupdate für Fujjifilms FinePix J50 und F480
Fujifilm hat heute für seine Kompaktdigitalkameramodelle FinePix J50 und FinePix F480 neue Firmware mit den Versionsnummern 1.01 (FinePix J50) beziehungsweise 1.04 (FinePix F480) veröffentlicht. Damit sollen die beiden Kameras lernen, besser mit manchen Speicherkarten vom Typ SDHC umzugehen; bei der FinePix J50 soll die neue Firmware zusätzlich für einen allgemein reibungsloseren Kamerabetrieb sorgen.
