Jerry Greer Photography - Environmental & Natural History Photography & Videography

...To be truly content, we must be attuned to the influences of nature. We must know the sunrises and sunsets, starry nights and full moons, must hear the sounds of rushing streams and singing birds, and thrill to the splendor of the changing seasons. Those who live with the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never quite alone, or bored, or weary of life. As I thought about these things in the fading sunset, I began to understand why so many people have come under the spell and mystique of the mountain.

Andreas Kanon Nature Photography

Andreas Kanon Nature Photography

Wild bird photography ranging from the Scandinavian tundra to the North American back yard. Ever since I have been out in the field as often as I have been able to. After using my Nikon equipment for little over a year I found limitating features which made me look for a new alternative. Eventually I ended up biting the bullet and switching to Canon.

GOOD MIGRATIONS, Landscape and Wildlife Photography by Ross Geredien

GOOD MIGRATIONS, Landscape and Wildlife Photography by Ross Geredien

Images and Prints for sale by Ross Geredien Nature Photographer. His travels to Alaska and Florida took him to many of the most beautiful parts of North America. Ross became hooked on trying to capture on film the feeling of what it s like to be in such places. I came up with the name Good Migrations largely because of my love of birds and bird migration, and also because of my own work; for a period of about 2 1 2 years, I was working seasonally in Alaska during the summer and in Florida during the winter. The lifestyle became seductive: you re outdoors in the field every day, surrounded by incredible beauty and often incredible wildlife. I also love the people associated with the Parks. They are some of the most dedicated, knowledgeable, and interesting people around. I have always had a passionate interest in conservation and wilderness preservation and enjoy combining my work with these efforts. Ross is an avid birder with a North American life list of 492 species. Ross graduated summa cum laude in Natural Resources from the University of Maine, is an Appalachian Trail 2,000-miler, and has worked for a long list of conservation organizations and agencies that includes The Nature Conservancy, Appalachian Mountain Club, Cooperative Extension Service, USDA Soil Conservation Service, Olympic National Park, Everglades National Park, and Washington State Parks. In addition, Ross has made TEN coast-to-coast trips across North America, spending scores of days and nights in...

Nick Peeff - Welcome To Escaping To Paradise! - A Collection of Waterfall Photos by Nick Peeff

This website has photos from Alabama, the Great Smoky Mountains, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan s Upper Peninsula, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Sequoia Kings Canyon, Shenandoah, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Yellowstone and Yosemite. Hopefully, my waterfall pictures will put you in a better mood, enjoy! In the past four years, I have visited waterfalls in the Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sequoia Kings Canyon, Shenandoah, Michigan s UP, Ontario, Kentucky, Western New York, West Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Tennessee. You can find directions to waterfalls by searching the Internet for different states or by purchasing books like Greg Plumb s The Waterfalls of Tennessee. These books are very useful because they show you pictures of how aesthetic most of the waterfalls are and the author will rate them by trail difficulty. I was very excited when I found some very unique looking waterfalls and landscapes on the Internet from the country of Iceland three years ago, but after doing further research on how much a trip there would cost, my cheapskate instincts took over! They have to be crazy if they think I m going to pay about 150 per day for a basic rental car and maybe 5 for a gallon of gas! So, I decided to visit Yellowstone Park instead. The most popular waterfall at Yellowstone is the 308-foot tall lower falls, but I also made plans to visit the more beautiful 250-foot tall Union...

Rhodus Photography, Basehor, Kansas

Rhodus Photography, Basehor, Kansas

As a nearly lifelong resident of the state of Kansas, with a brief stint in Nebraska on the family farm, it would be fair to say that Wayne has heartland roots and values. Raised on the outskirts of Kansas City there was ample time in his youth to wander the hills and streams with friends as they searched endlessly to quench youthful curiosity and fulfill childhood s mischievous impulses. That wanderlust extended to the expanses of the family farm in Rising City, Nebraska. There seemed a never ending supply of places to capture a child s imagination in the old barns and silos that graced the farm. Add to that the annual family vacation to visit relatives in the Rocky Mountains and you complete the picture of a young man s exposure to nature and some of its compelling mysteries. Wayne s passion for photography began relatively late in life. Like so many others, the rigors of daily life and raising a wonderful family required most of his time. After years of filming his children in their many activities he unknowingly developed an eye for composition thru the video lens. When the demands for his time diminished, the pursuit of photography became a logical extension to his video experience. Most nature photographers share first and foremost the love of all things natural. Like others, Wayne shares a burning desire to experience firsthand the flora and fauna of our earth while striving to understand mankind s intimate role in the preservation of the vanishing natural...

George Housley - Nature Photography

George Housley - Nature Photography

After a lifetime interest in things biologic, I came to photograph the natural world in earnest in 2001. Although there appears to be an aesthetic for each subset of the natural world, the uniform blurred background for the bird portrait, for example, I am trying to use that aesthetic and not be constrained by it. Each set of rules defines and simplifies the viewing but can simplify too much so that the technical aspects become the aesthetic.

Karl Ammann

Karl Ammann

Karl Ammann is a noted wildlife photographer who devotes his life to stopping the slaughter of endangered bushmeat. Karl is one of the world s top environmental journalists - he was awarded the prestigious Dolly Green Award for Artistic Achievement at the Genesis Awards in 1997, for his work on the illegal bush-meat trade in Cameroon. You may read about the 1997 Genesis Award winners. Here is, in his own words, how Karl came to do this work I came to Africa some 30 years ago. What attracted me were the standard stereotypes of wide open spaces, untouched wilderness, the variety of its people and the general mystique, contained in the word AFRICA. I was fortunate and found most of the above and was able to document some of what I found in a range of books, photographs and documentaries. However for the last decade I have been in the comparative mode - what I found when I arrived and how things have changed. The picture is not a pretty one and extends clearly beyond Africa into other of the less developed continents such as Asia and South America where I have visited regularly .
