A 1986 compilation of her newspaper and magazine work won her the title of Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year, a major international competition sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation and judged at that time by the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She was the first freelance travel journalist to win this highly coveted prize. Additionally, her travel images have appeared in more than two dozen magazines, and her ever growing files include top quality, current images from more than 30 countries.
