Tim Greyhavens is a Seattle-based photographer who specializes in images and interpretations of the natural world. I m a holistic photographer based in Seattle, Washington, USA. As an avid conservationist, my photos have appeared in publications of The Wilderness Society, Defenders of Wildlife, Oregon Natural Desert Association, Trout Unlimited and other environmental journals. In 2006 and in 2004, one or more of my photos was selected from more than 14,000 entries for publication in the highly regarded journal Nature s Best Photography. Over the past ten years my photos have been exhibited in public and private galleries across the country, including the Smithsonian Institution s Museum of Natural History. I first studied photography at Ohio University, and while there I was fortunate to spend one summer with Minor White in Cambridge. He taught me that nothing remain static in our world - everything that exists is in a constant state of change. While change that occurs over longer periods of time is seen as natural, the earth is now experiencing change that is vastly accelerated and transmuted from normal ecological processes. The rate and scale of human-caused environmental degradation on our planet is staggering, and with each passing day we lose more of our wild places, wildlife, vital cultures and reminders of our past. I struggle in my work to capture themes that address these issues and to evoke feelings that will engage the viewer to respond without hesitation.
