Marine Life Photography. This site contains dive trip reports, product reviews, tutorials, and underwater images as well as links to interesting photography and scuba web sites. I ve put together a selection of under water images, trip reports, technical reviews, and links that are, hopefully, beneficial to any one who appreciates the world beneath the sea. We are Bruce and Linda Petrarca. We live in PebbleCreek, a Robson community in Goodyear, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. There we have businesses: Bruce, runs Litchfield Station, providing electronics for model railroading. Linda is the first Certified ONE Stroke Instructor in Arizona. We started scuba together in 1983. Bruce was already a successful land photographer, having been published since 1967. He began shooting underwater on his first dive trip! Beginning with a point and shoot underwater camera, Bruce purchased a Nikonos IV-a in early 1984. He has upgraded through the Nikonos series and started shooting video in 1992. The photo above shows Bruce shooting videon on one of the walls of Palau in 1998. He tried and like digital video in Palau in 2002.Bruce's photography was most recently featured in a Mothers' Day special on Phoenix NBC affiliate KPNX-TV (Channel 12). The topic was things for Mothers to do with female-owned businesses and a portrait of Linda from the 1996 Cayman trip was used to promote Oasis Divers, then owned by two ladies named Susan.

Antarctica provided me with an opportunity to hone my photographic skills, especially in underwater (or in this case, under ice) photography. I also became an expert in Antarctic diving (for what that's worth up here in the world!) But I also became knowledgeable in general diving safety, dive equipment, recompression chamber technology and operations, and diving medicine. Antarctica (and several trusting and supportive people in positions of authority) allowed me to indulge in my dream of producing and directing stage plays. I learned to operate a ham radio, to run a radio station, play the drums, and survive in a forbidding environment (the McMurdo galley).Perhaps those are the tangible things. Other aspects of our Antarctic experience, perhaps the most important parts, are as personal and intangible as memories: the brittle, awe inspiring splendor of an ice cave or the endless space and limitless silence of the sea ice on a calm day. I remember sitting at the edge of the sea while curious emperor penguins trundled up to within inches of me, or hiking through Taylor Valley, alone in a vast, rugged and seemingly untouched land. I remember the feeling of descending into the dim and undiscovered world below the ice. There were many times when I saw underwater landscapes that had never before been seen by a human being.
