My commercial studio was located in the Atlanta area for fifteen years where it achieved the Professional Photographers of America certification degree. My past clients have included: Kodak, IBM, Fujisawa, Sweetheart Cup, Rheam Corporation, Ritz Carlton, Ernst & Young, The Fox Theatre and many others. My most memorable photo session was with musician Ray Charles. I taught professional photography at The Southeastern Center for the Arts and photography electives for the middle and high school levels. Despite my long career in the visual arts, I retired my commercial studio a few years ago to pursue other interests. I began this site in 2006 with the goal of adding favorites from my portfolio files plus newly created works. Adding images can be a lengthy process, so please visit often as the image libraries grow. Today I devote my photographic time pursuing fine art work and shooting for my stock library. My current gear consists of Arca Swiss and Ebony view cameras, Mamiya and Pentax medium format film cameras, and a Nikon digital.

Kirkpatrick has twice been named a winner in the prestigious International Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition held in London, England. Kirkpatrick is in demand as a featured speaker for national conferences and conventions. He has appeared on the syndicated television programs Wild Things and At Home Live, the Christian Broadcasting Network s The 700 Club, The Outdoor Channel s Adventure Bound Outdoors, and on several PBS and outdoor network specials. Stephen and Marlo Kirkpatrick live in Madison, Mississippi. Stephen has three sons, two on earth and one in heaven. Sons Sean and Ian share their father s enthusiasm for the outdoors. Prior to his death in 2003, 17-year-old Ryan accompanied his father on dozens of expeditions and assisted with Stephen s work in the Amazon. Dive destinations have included: Cozumel, Mexico Bahamas Florida Keys Bonne Terre Mine in Missouri Bay Islands of Honduras Belize Galapagos Islands, Ecuador including the remote islands of Darwin & Wolf The shipwrecks of Isle Royale, MI Truk Lagoon Chuuk , Micronesia - in the Western Pacific the location of a massive World War II naval air attack called Operation Hailstone. Other travel destinations include many locations within Alaska, the Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, and numerous areas within the continental U.S. After earning a bachelors degree and a masters degree in electrical engineering, Kevin also served as a paid-on-call firefighter and emergency medical technician in his community for almost a decade, before focusing his efforts on other interests. In addition to scuba diving and traveling, he enjoys paddling his sea kayak, hiking, backpacking, and camping. Although he s not a professional photographer by trade, he tries to incorporate photography into the activities that he already enjoys.

Jon Smithers Gallery & Studio - Wildlife, Nature & Landscape Photo Gallery

My interest in nature & wildlife photography started a very long time ago when my wife showed me some caterpillar pictures she had taken. Later we went up north to the Lake Superior trails in Minnesota and took a lot of photos. We had a 35mm Minolta XG9 and a 35mm lens. Newly married and not having enough money to throw at the equipment, we set aside our interest in photography until recently, with the advent of the DSLR. I had also been working with computers for many years & that helped in today s digital age. The last few years my wife & I have been able to pursue hiking & camping again and we have become passionate about photographing nature. It is an awesome feeling to come upon a local pair of eagles or a stunning autumn landscape and be able to capture that feeling & majesty to share with others. It takes patience & persistence and a good sense of the weather, but the rewards are incredible. Some of the photos I have been taking are stunning and are available online, in art galleries & fine art fairs. Much of my work has been inspired by some of the great photographers like Craig Blacklock, Ansel Adams, Jim Brandenburg & others.
