Still life is a natural starting point for budding photographers who are interested in experimenting with lighting and learning the particulars of their cameras. For me, the glass bottle became the subject of choice for shooting still life. The spectacle of light refracted by imperfections in the glass and illuminating the golden amber hues of bourbon prompted me to get a little closer to my subject. Still life photography quickly became macrophotography. My favorite aspect of abstract macrophotography is the presentation of ordinary objects and phenomena from an extraordinary perspective. Our world is filled with so many remarkable patterns, textures and colors; we constantly pass them by in our busy lives. My aim as a photographer is to capture just a few of those wonders, in order to remind us of what we’ve been missing.

It is a world of insects and spiders, a kingdom of unusual forms and amazing colours. This world which we pass by very day, we don’t even notice the wonder and magicof a miniature world around our feet. We have to travel down in size and up in magnification to revel its secrets. All the creatures, which are normally so un-noticeable appear to have marvellous shapes and colours. It’s worth to take time, stop and kneel down to take a closer look at this amazing world, which is around us all. What we discover, is a world so different from our own, so secretive and fascinating. It’s so tiny, yet large in the complexity, in colour, shape and form but so alien to us. What is the worth of a meadow full of vibrant colours, smells and sounds without butterflies and the hum of little creatures getting on with there life’s which we can not see, yet we know are there.
