Photoblog: Roland Allen seeing things

Photoblog: Roland Allen seeing things

I created this photoblog in January of 2008. I enjoy taking photos and sharing them broadly. Hence, this photoblog. This version of my photoblog uses my adapted version of the Supaclean Teamplate that is available on PixelPost. I changed up the colors, stripped off the animation and added padding and a border to the photo. And, some other tweaks to the image display.

RumDoodle Photo Blog Blog

RumDoodle Photo Blog Blog

I ve been enamored with photography since I was about eight years old. Several decades later I m still mellowed by walking around with my SLR, excited to see the results, thrilled to play in the digital darkroom, and awed by what other photographers create. Product photography as a side business allows for the purchase of equipment and travel for what I really love. I am still searching for my own particular look , and I m afraid that its pursuit brings about enough contentment that I feel no desire to end it. Thanks for taking a peek into my photographic journey. I welcome all comments, criticisms, and inquiries. - John

Soldier s View: A Pictorial Reflection Of The War In Iraq

Soldier s View: A Pictorial Reflection Of The War In Iraq

The realities that exist in war transcend politics and emotional simplicity. Just by looking at the show you ll see things that both conflict and support both pro and antiwar arguments. The extreme emotional and situational complexity of the war in Iraq cannot be surmised in a single phrase and therefore a simple, I support or don t support the war is not sufficient. This is why it s important that this show be seen, because finally there is a face people can relate to, something dynamic people can hold on to and a complexity that emotes a true rounded emotion that accompanies every tragedy we as humans experiences. The complexity highly influenced the logistical formulation of the show. The show as a whole, from set to set counters itself in politics and emotion. In one set a group of prisoners lay face down in the ground and in another a soldier fishes and an Iraqi sews in a peaceful environment. How can the photographer say it was horrific plainly and ignore the peaceful times? The pictures, individually when accompanied by the story tell of a complexity that emotes horror, loss, love and desperation. On 1 December 2003, the 425 th Civil Affairs Battalion, Santa Barbara, California, mobilized for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 140-person battle roster was composed of soldiers from nine different civil affairs organizations in seven different states. While serving in Iraq from February 2004 until October 2004, elements of the 425 th CA BN supported...

I m a web designer UI guy by day, and a musician, oil painter, sketch artist, photog newbie, entreprenuer by night. My wife started photography before me and my involvement in drawing painting music already had opened my mind to self-expression. I tried out her camera and fell in love with it right away because I need yet ANOTHER passion hobby. Uggh.

I capture my images with a compact Canon Powershot a710. For post-processing I use Adobe Photoshop CS3. This website was designed by me using wordpress architecture. I incorporated various parts of other photoblogging platforms or sites that I like, including the archive format of pixelpost.
