Roberto Marquino :: Photographer

I believe in human being, universality of art, providence and common sense. Never stop to be astonished in front of the small surprises that life reserves to the one who decides to listen its weak whispers and and knows to expect. Many of the images of my initial period as a photographer were taken with a camera of 35mm using Fuji Velvia 50 ISO. However, since I received from hands of a great friend the old one Rolleiflex of the year 1952, this has become my main tool, varying from time to time of mark of film but never of format (6x6).The Rolleiflex allows me to tune in with the world through its square format while I seize a legendary camera. People shows a special affection by it and doesn’t feel intimidated by its presence, therefore the same photographer is seen obliged to do a light gesture of reverence al to look at for its periscopic viewfinder when desires to take a photography.I use black and white because I consider that evokes in a certain way the idea of the memory. I like to wander and to take all kinds of images and my Japanese friends affirm that portrait is given me well.It’s a matter of introducing a fragment of life and of thought inside an image. Something as well as a kind of cinematographic perfection in the routine, a poetic realism in images, a search of the beauty in the detail as a secret signature of God in the apparent chaos of his work.
