Robert Appleby - Documentary photography - Italy

The Palestinian villagers living on the southern border of the West Bank near to Hebron have been fighting against eviction and the expropriation of their land over the last 15 years. I have posted some background information maps and documents about the Hebron situation here. Promised Land was featured on ZNet in September 2002. I have also written a brief essay about the larger implications of the Hebron case. -- Hazaratown is a refugee township on the outskirts of Quetta, Pakistan. I was there in November 2001 to learn about the experience of the Hazaras at the hands of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
