Rhode Island School of Design is a private art and design college in Providence RI (USA) offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 18 disciplines. The mission of the Rhode Island School of Design, through its college and museum, is to educate its students and the public in the creation and appreciation of works of art and design, to discover and transmit knowledge and to make lasting contributions to a global society through critical thinking, scholarship and innovation. RISD has entered the 21st century guided by three basic tenets. As strong advocates for the arts, RISD administrators, faculty, alumni and visiting speakers constantly reinforce the need for public support of the arts and provide a context within which the arts may be understood and appreciated by the larger public.
