The Irish flora includes both native and introduced flowering plants and most wildflowers growing in Ireland are also to be found in Britain and Northern Europe. Over 800 of the wild flowers found in Ireland are native, and 15 of these form what is known as the Lusitanian Flora. The members of this unique group of native wildflowers are absent from Britain and northern Europe.
