Bangkok Underground

Bangkok Underground is a photo retrospective captured by dauntless Bangkok-based photographer Marc Schultz. The surreal imagery of the Bangkok Underground which you are about to see takes you on a journey through the winding train tunnels as they were slowly being carved out from the earth. This series of images evolved from Marc s numerous expeditions deep into the cavernous hard-hat world beneath the congested Bangkok city streets, documenting a piece of modern Thai history in the colors, shapes and textures of off-world-like corridors. There is a haunting, intriguing element to the photos, which are dominated by smooth metallic textures and cool colors that reflect what appear to be infinite tubes. Some images are devoid of human figures and resemble an outer-space station rather than a modern underground train system. Others capture the people who built the subway and one reminds us of a science-fiction movie with the eerie reflections of copper light on concentric circles of steel surrounding seemingly interminable, blue subway tunnels.
