This website is dedicated to highpointing all over the world. Below are some links to my various highpointing endeavors. I have always loved climbing and being in the woods. I grew up in the beautiful Adirondack Mountians of New York State in a family that loved the outdoorsy, active lifestyle. This heritage has profoundly impacted who I have become, and my own lifestyle choices, to an extent I would probably have denied during my early highschool days! Now, however, I am truly grateful for the unique heritage I have been given by my family. I started out climbing in the Adirondacks, and became the youngest person to climb all the High Peak in this region in the winter by age 10 with my family. After that, I continued to hike extensively in the Adirondack Mountains, finishing a total of 4 additional 3 in the winter rounds of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. Then, wishing to climb other peaks, my dad and I climbed all 116 4,000 foot mountain in New York and New England the New England 116 in the winter, finishing in 2000. Now as I move beyond that limited geographic area, I have developed several new climbing goals, including the Highpoints of the US, Canada, and Europe. I continue to hike and climb because I love being in the wilderness, enjoying its beauty and praising its Creator. This is also an integral part of the unique, adventurous, and outgoing person who I have become, and of whom I am proud.

James Mathias Below The Blue Horizon - CANADA

Recently, Mathias has become concerned about preserving the coral reefs and the life in and around them because he has seen signs of damage that he finds disturbing. The underwater environment has changed drastically, partly from pollution and global warming, and partly from mass tourism. He notices beautiful clusters of sponges with branches broken from being hit by divers fins. Coral is dying, leaving large sections bleached of colour. There are areas around Fiji where there are only small fish left, since all of the large fish have been caught to feed tourists. You have to go all the way to the outer reefs now to see reef fish, Mathias says. He hopes to use his photographs to catch public interest in the subject, and educate people about the need to preserve the underwater environment. Meanwhile, he s settling in back at his winter base in Fiji. Everything he photographs has importance, he says. Every tiny sea creature has a purpose.

Your wedding day is quite possibly the most special and memorable event in your life. Steve has clients from as far away as Lake Tahoe and Florida who come here to be married in Vermont for a reason; it is truly a beautiful place providing unique memories with scenery which was made for such a special day as a wedding. Whether your wedding is in the spring, summer, fall, or winter, there is something special about Vermont and its seasons. On this site you will see images which include the environment the weddings took place in. Many are here in Vermont although Steve is a destination wedding photographer whose work takes him to New Hampshire, Lake George to the Canadian border and everywhere in between. Steve also employs a unique multiple off-camera lighting system which produces lighting like the movies. It is sometimes called cinematic or three point. These are not hot lights but are strobes digitally triggered from the camera-completely wireless! There are incredible advantages to this set-up: very easy and fast to put in place, produces a very dynamic and dimensional look to the images as opposed to using just one flash on the camera, allows a large group to be lit without light fall-off towards the back of the group, and increases detail on clothing, especially wedding dresses. The next time you watch a movie, notice how the subjects are lit. Very rarely will they be lit with flat, frontal lighting. They are almost always lit with lights from the side, top and behind...
