In langjähriger Fotoarbeit hat Ren Maier ein grosses Fotoarchiv über 40 000 Fotos zusammengestellt. Ein grosser Teil der Bilder befinden sich in den Bildkatalogen dieser Homepage. Ein Teil des Archivs besteht in Form von Dias, die noch nicht digitalisiert wurden. Die Schwerpunkte seines Archivs liegen in den Bereichen: Stadt Thun, Dorf Brienz, rund um den Thuner- und Brienzersee, Tiere, Blumen, Griechenland, Skandinavien, usw. Ren Maier hat sich vor Allem im Bereich der kreativen Fotografie mit Doppel- und Mehrfachbelichtungen, Spiegelungen und anderen Bildverfremdungen einen Namen gemacht. Die Fotografien von Ren Maier werden auch im Ladengeschäft Aladin in Brienz als Fotokarten und als gerahmte Bilder in verschiedenen Grössen und Preislagen angeboten. Eine Spezialität von Ren Maier ist die Reproduktion und Restauration von alten Fotografien.

CINEFOTO Andreas Brenner - Pferdefotografie, Stuttgart

Horsie pics said the subject line of the e-mail with which Andreas Brenner contacted me for the first time and knocked on my virtual door because of today s opening address. This expression horsie pics arose mixed feelings in me. I asked myself: What s behind, when somebody describes his creative oeuvre as horsie pics ? Irony? Distance? Or even disdain? Or is it just Swabian humor? So what makes an adult person take photographs exclusively of horses for the past three of four years? And what does he look like? And above all: what does his home look like? Are there horse posters hanging all over the walls? Are there magazines like Quick hooves, wild mane lying all around? Does the video collection entirely consist of movies like Vacations at the Immenhof and Black Beauty ? Clich or not, all these questions went round and round in my head when I visited Andreas Brenner for the first time. One thing that motivated me for this encounter was the agreeable understatement that was expressed in his e-mails, but first of all it was a look into the art magazine Sonnendeck , where, as I remembered, three photoraphs of Andreas Brenner were depicted. These pictures had not much to do with the conventional horse portraits I had known from Wendy & co., numerous calendars and horse books: A horse s head, really daringly cut off, forms a diagonal from the left bottom to the right top corner, culminating into an enormous eye. Wildlife Photography Romain Grisius

Romain Grisius, born in Luxembourg, travelled thousands of miles to some of the remotest wilderness regions on earth to capture with his camera the magnificence of the natural world. - He has crossed the vast African plains to record the wonder of its bounteous wildlife. - In the Virunga mountains in Rwanda, he photographed one of the rarest mammals on earth, the mountain gorillas. - Close to the South African coast, he has looked into the jaws of the Great White Sharks and has documented their hunting behaviour. - In the Mahale mountains of Tanzania he photographed one of the last wild groups of chimpanzees. - In India he has come face to face with the mighty tiger, the most royal of all big cats. The tiger has become my favourite animal. Finding tigers is still far from easy. Days, even weeks, can pass without so much as a glimpse of a cat. Patience is a pre-requisite when searching for predators and the waiting while agonising at times is an essential part of the process. For when it eventually comes, an encounter with a wild tiger on its own terms, in its own landscape is one of the most exhilarating experiences on earth. It is like a dream . European Otter. European Otter Habitat. Black Bear. Bengal Tiger, Other Mammals and Birds. - In 1994, whilst in the Indian Jungle looking for big game, a chance meeting with a group of Smooth Coated Otters was to change my life forever. I decided I had to see more otters and knew that England and Scotland was going to be a lot nearer than India although little did I know how challenging! I was a complete novice when it came to trying to find otters let alone photograph them. Despite many mistakes and near misses I gradually learnt about otters and their habits. Some of these photographs have taken years to get as despite knowing the otters well getting close to them without disturbing them is another matter entirely.

Dr. Zoltan Takacs: snake venomous animal & nature photography tropical expeditions & scientific resources. Scientist-adventurer Dr. Zoltan Takacs has been researching, publishing, and lecturing about the world of venomous snakes for most of his life. After studying at the Albert Szent-Gyorgyi School of Medicine, Semmelweis Medical School and University of California (UCLA), he obtained his Ph.D. on evolutionary studies on cobra venom from Columbia University. Later he carried out various research projects on snake venom pharmacology and evolutionary genetics at Rockefeller University, Columbia University, and Yale University. At Columbia, he established and co-taught the school's first Herpetology course.
