Our Studio started operations in our home 1977 here in the Turner School District. We purchased a building across from the Turner Elementary School and relocated in the fall of 1999. John and myself are both Turner Graduates, class of 1968 70 . Our home is still in the Turner School District. John joined the Kansas City Police Department in December of 1972, in 1976 he went into the I.D. Bureau of the Department. He grew to love the photography side of it. He became very proficient in photographing crime scenes and in the darkroom. John also had several letters written to his superiors from judges that sat on the court cases he testified at. He also received recognition from surrounding police departments. From there we started doing photography for people we knew and our business grew by word of mouth. I ran the business during the day out of our home being able to stay at home with our two children. When he would come home we worked together.

War Photographer - a Film by Christian Frei with James Nachtwey Documentary Switzerland 2001 96. James Nachtwey ist der berühmteste Kriegsfotograf unserer Zeit. Seit fast 20 Jahren fotografiert er in Krisengebieten dieser Welt - Afghanistan und Bosnien, Ruanda und El Salvador, Nordirland und Kurdistan, Somalia und Südafrika. Dabei entstanden Dokumente dessen, wozu Menschen auch am Ende des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts noch fähig sind: Bilder von apokalyptischem Leiden, archaischem Hass, kollektivem Blutrausch. James Nachtwey wurde 1948 im US-Bundesstaat Massachusetts geboren. Er besuchte Dartmouth College, eine der angesehensten Hochschulen der USA. Dort studierte er Kunstgeschichte und Politikwissenschaften und beschloss, Fotograf zu werden. Nach dem Ende seines Studiums jobbte Nachtwey zunächst auf Handelsschiffen und als Lastwagenfahrer, dann als Assistent eines Nachrichten-Redakteurs bei der US-Fernseh-Gesellschaft NBC in New York. 1976 begann er als Lokalfotograf in Neu Mexiko zu arbeiten, ab 1980 als freier Fotograf in New York. Christian Frei wird 1959 in Schönenwerd in der Schweiz geboren. Er studiert Optische Medien am Institut für Journalistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Fribourg. 1981 realisiert er seinen ersten Dokumentarfilm. Seit 1984 arbeitet er als freischaffender Filmemacher und Produzent. Er realisiert regelmässig Dokumentarfilme für das Schweizer Fernsehen DRS DOK .

Born and raised in the splendor of contrast and definition in Southern California, Steve Gilb has been intrigued by capturing the elements of life on film from an early age. Fascinated with the countless details provided by a Yashica A twin-lens reflex camera, Steve, in his endless search for improving his skills, began taking Photography courses at the age of fourteen. Recognized for his talent and efforts early on, Steve received many First Place Awards as well as Honorable Mentions at the Del Mar Fair. Ever the adventurer, Steve, while on a United States tour with Yamaha International Moto-Cross team, was able to capture images from all corners of the country. 1973 landed Steve as a Photography Instructor at Club Med Playa Blanca, Mexico. Rotating Photography Exhibits at the Balboa Park Museum, San Diego, from 1976-1978 brought attention to Steve s unique images. Steve, who loves to spend time in Arizona, has been published in Arizona Highways Magazine since the mid 1970 s. Influenced greatly by Ansel Adams, Gilb jumped into the exciting world of the large format 4x5 camera. He soon discovered there was no turning back, this would be his path and vehicle for creating images to share with the world. Steve s current fascination is the Pyro method of developing black & white images. Steve dedicated the entire year of 1998 to this technique.
