When I first understood what photography meant to me and what I could do with it, I felt like I had been reborn. Everything, even the most mundane of objects, was special and different and all I had to do was find the exact right angle to bring forth the art hidden within. I was 17 and convinced I wasn t talented in anything, so the discovery of photography as a form of art gave me new hope and managed to open my eyes. The world isn t always pretty and it can be quite cruel, but I ve always tended to try and show how it really is. Not pretty and cruel. I don t set about to show a softened view of the world, I d rather show the honest truth. Too many people go about their lives blinkered like a horse, I tore off my blinkers a long time ago.
